In general, the award is given annually to indivdual scientists, researchers, or groups of scientists and researchers for their excellence in the field of cancer treatment, prevention and care.
The Princess Chulabhorn Award
The Chulabhorn Royal Academy Award is established to honor the auspicious occasion of the 65th birthday anniversary of Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Walailak, the Princess Royal of Thailand, on July 4, 2022 (Buddhist Era 2565). This international award is conferred upon scientists, researchers, or groups of scientists and researchers, in recognition of their distinguished contributions, exemplary dedication, and advancement in cancer control, treatment, care, and social services. It serves to recognize their exemplary achievements as a model for progress in the field.

Normally, the awards are given annually to individual scientists or researchers, or groups of scientists or researchers, for their excellence in the field of cancer treatment, prevention and care.
Note: The prize money is sourced from donations to the foundation.
Nomination process
1. Individual scientists or researchers, and/or groups of scientists or researchers, may be nominated as an award candidate for excellence in cancer prevention, control, treatment, and care. Nominations can be submitted by national scientific, medical, or health care organizations, or international cancer-related associations/foundations or institutions focusing on academic research or healthcare services, as well as by individuals or groups representing government or private sector organizations as award nominators.
2. Nominations must be submitted in English. Self-nominations are not accepted. Nominations can be made in three ways.
2.1. The method requires online submission through an online nomination process.

2.2. Send an email containing the nomination form and all supporting documents as attachments to the Secretary-General.

2.3. Send the nomination form and all supporting documents by post mail to the Secretary-General at the Princess Chulabhorn Award Foundation.
3. The Secretary-General submits the nomination form and supporting materials to the Chairperson of the Scientific Advisory Committee or the Preliminary Screening Committee.
4. The nominated form endorsed by the Scientific Advisory Committee will then be forwarded to the International Award Committee, which will review and recommend it to the Princess Chulabhorn Award Foundation Committee.
5. The Princess Chulabhorn Award Foundation Committee will finalize the approval process and schedule for announcing award recipients and the award ceremony as follows
1. Nominations must be submitted online, by email, or by mail before January 31st of each year.
2. The names of the award recipients will be announced by the end of May each year.
3. The award ceremony will be held in July of the same year.
